Financing one's studies
On the contrary to the Grandes Ecoles d'ingénieurs,
tuition fees for Grandes Ecoles de Commerce amout to at least 4
000 € per year and even more than 6 000 € for HEC, ESSEC or EDHEC.
The entrance examinations cost approximately 600 € (for 10 schools).
However, students may
work during their studies and benefit
from assistances and various loans.
Working while studying
Training periods and vocational
education
Students in French Grandes Ecoles de Commerce always carry out part
of their cursus in companies or other private or public organizations.
Many different forms are encountered: training periods, missions,
apprenticeship (remunerated according to a fraction of the minimum
salary, which vary with the age of the trainee.
Juniors Entreprise
The students can carry out some works for companies within the framework
of the Junior entreprise, which is generally associated with a remuneration
and provide them with some professional experience.
Small jobs
The services "Emplois Temporaires Etudiants" (ETE) from
the CROUS are answering
the needs of employers from various sectors with students looking
for a short-term or part-time job.
Various assistances and loans
The site Service-Public
offers all necessary information on social assistances. The CNOUS explains
the necessary steps to obtaining grants on social criteria or merit,
student loans, urgent social help, loans on social and academic
result criteria, and other forms of social assistance. IEDU gathers on its site several hundreds
of sources of financings for students.
The local authorities (the General Councils, the Regional
Councils...) offer assistances whose criteria vary from one department
to another. The application files must be withdrawn in the higher
educational establishment of the student before the beginning of
November. The departmental Directions of Youth and Sports offer
a multitude of information on the foundations helping young people
in their studies and their projects. Attributed by the Ministry
for Health, the "prix de la vocation scientifique et technique"
aims at encouraging girls who choose to follow a scientific and
technical training career. In addition, other assistances and loans
are granted to children whose parents contribute to pension funds
or work's councils companies.
Lastly, all the French Grandes Ecoles have concluded
agreements with banks, which propose student loans at advantageous
rates.
